i painted this about a month ago as a small homage to one of my heroes. i have a great admiration for this man’s ideas, accomplishments, and writing. though his later life was filed with flaws and controversy, there’s no denying he meant well and did more than just talk about revolution, something many of us are too afraid to do.acrylic on wood. 16 x 19

all i’ll ever have from you are your words.
though the effort may be minimal, you’ll never know how much i appreciate each syllable. the intervals between the sentences that compose the paragraphs that express the endlessness of your mind. i’m glad our lives intertwined and that you shared your time with mine.
i wouldn’t mind if we never met, but know i remain in your debt, for closely, the words you spoke will always be kept. -

i get requests often to draw Marilyn Monroe all tatted up and pierced.though i have done that before, i’ve stopped doing so becausea) because Mike Giant and OG Abel already perfected that, and b) because i adore the lady for her beauty, both mentally and visually. i wouldn’t want to mutilate or decorate someone who needs no improvement. and while i love tattoo art, and i DO believe in enhancing beauty, nothing is better than the pure loveliness in her, or most women, for that matter.this might have been the first time i draw her from head to toe, so the scale of this piece limited the detail i could put in. luckily, she’s so iconic, and her features are so unmistakeable, that even if her face is the size of a dime, we know it’s her.pencil.Source: b2rianls.com

i saw an old photo that caught my attention; i don’t know who the person in the photo is, or what she was smoking, and that lack of answers, paired with a potentially limitless amount of conclusions, made it so much more intriguing. this intrigue, paired with the lovely shading of the photo made me want to draw it

ACTivists
remember when Green Day’s “American Idiot” album came out? how everyone was a Bush-bashing political activist?
or when the Obama ‘08 campaign came about? how we were all spokesmen for the Democratic party?
Prop 8? Prop 19? Egypt? Occupy Wall Street?
don’t let KONY be another passing political fad. if you’re really interested, please find out how get involved. like with any movement, it’s not enough to watch a video and #Hashtag the topic. participate in something bigger than yourselves. don’t turn your back on this, or any meaningful cause. -

another Slug drawing
i usually draw Slug of Atmosphere every year on September 7th, but i’ve been listening to the “New, Unreleased, and B-Sides” album again, and felt inspired to draw this master mind poet yet again.
pencilthis drawing pretty much follows the same ‘stained glass’ look i went with in my last drawing of him, except i kept it rough, unfinished, and messy- even after i scanned it.

on my bike ride today, i found a broken wooden board on the road (it looks like it might’ve been for a fence, i imagine it fell off a truck or something) i picked it up, took it with me, and drew on it.
i couldn’t think of anything else to draw, so i just sketched out a gal and some roses. on the way back home, i stuck it in some dirt down the road, and left it there for whoever might want it.

with all the “Snow White” movies in development, and the numerous fairy-tale TV shows currently airing, i decided to give this classic character a try. for the face, i used the lovely Lucy Hale, whose soft, innocent face and big, piercing eyes fit the look of the princess. The dress and background was kept similar to the Disney version, though i tried to make it ‘dark’ like i did with my Beauty and the Beast drawing. the cottage in the background is one of the Snow White cottages behind my high school, around the corner from where the former Disney Studios once stood, where the original Snow White film was created.
