LIGHTS
i’ve been drawing larger scale portraits that i plan on wheatpasting.
when scrolling Tumblr for reference photos, i found a lot of posts about my favorite Canadian musician, LIGHTS, for it is her birthday today.
i figured, “what better time to pay homage to this talented beauty on the 25th anniversary of her birth, than by drawing her.”
these are drawn directly in pen, so there was no room for error! naturally, i made many.
overall, i did my best, but didn’t get the likeness right. there were some other photos that would’ve been perfect for reference, but she wasn’t smiling, and her smile is one of my favorite things about her. i chose these two because of her expression, and the way her features and the shading were bold, so it looked like it would be easier to translate, and from far away, it might be convincing. it’s all pen and acrylic.
i’ll post pix when i put ‘em up.
