  Frida Kahlo, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Amelia Earhart, Angela Davis, Marilyn Monroe, and Billie Holiday 

  each one of these ladies was in an artist in her own way- whose life is as inspiring as her work. she is/was independent, politically outspoken, passionate, skilled, intelligent and an example to the modern woman. She broke records, defied rules, shattered expectations, and through her achievements, became legendary. 

  the question will undoubtedly arise; why these women? why not the queens and the politicians whose names adorn history books? frankly, i only chose the women who are inspiring to me, personally, and who are instantly recognizable. beyond that, i couldn’t include EVERY important historical woman, there’s just not enough space.

  i painted this about a month ago as a small homage to one of my heroes.  i have a great admiration for this man’s ideas, accomplishments, and writing. though his later life was filed with flaws and controversy, there’s no denying he meant well and did more than just talk about revolution, something many of us are too afraid to do.

  though the effort may be minimal, you’ll never know how much i appreciate each syllable. the intervals between the sentences that compose the paragraphs that express the endlessness of your mind. i’m glad  our lives intertwined and that you shared your time with mine. 
  i wouldn’t mind if we never met, but know i remain in your debt, for closely, the words you spoke will always be kept.

  i get requests often to draw Marilyn Monroe all tatted up and pierced.

  though i have done that before, i’ve stopped doing so because

  a) because Mike Giant and OG Abel already perfected that,

  and b) because i adore the lady for her beauty, both mentally and visually. i wouldn’t want to mutilate or decorate someone who needs no improvement. and while i love tattoo art, and i DO believe in enhancing beauty, nothing is better than the pure loveliness in her, or most women, for that matter.
  

  this might have been the first time i draw her from head to toe, so the scale of this piece limited the detail i could put in. luckily, she’s so iconic, and her features are so unmistakeable, that even if her face is the size of a dime, we know it’s her.

  i saw an old photo that caught my attention; i don’t know who the person in the photo is, or what she was smoking, and that lack of answers, paired with a potentially limitless amount of conclusions, made it so much more intriguing. this intrigue, paired with the lovely shading of the photo made me want to draw it

  another Slug drawing 
  

  i usually draw Slug of Atmosphere every year on September 7th, but i’ve been listening to the “New, Unreleased, and B-Sides” album again, and felt inspired to draw this master mind poet yet again. 

  this drawing pretty much follows the same ‘stained glass’ look i went with in my last drawing of him, except i kept it rough, unfinished, and messy- even after i scanned it.
